Women’s Body Fat Calculator

This estimate uses a female-specific version of the U.S. Navy circumference method (height, waist, hip, neck in centimetres). It can be useful for trends, but it is not the same thing as a DEXA scan or skinfold measurement from a clinician.

What you'll enter

All four distances are horizontal tape measurements with the tape snug but not compressing flesh. Neck is around the narrowest point above the shoulders (female protocol includes hip and waist explicitly).

Standing straight, wall if possible.

Typically at narrowest torso or per Navy protocol guidelines you follow.

Fullest horizontal circumference around hips.

Standing, tape just below larynx, slight forward tilt as in standard protocols.

Plain-language band: Typical range for many adults

Use the same posture and tape placement each time to watch your own trend. For distribution of weight (waist vs hips), you may also find the waist-to-hip ratio tool helpful.

Healthy perspective

Body fat percentages don't diagnose illness. Hormones, bone density, and muscle mass influence health beyond one number. Discuss goals with a clinician or dietitian—especially during pregnancy, after illness, or with eating-disorder history.

Important usage notes & limitations

Reproductive timelines interact with contraception cessation, PCOS phenotype, transgender hormone therapy intensity, low body-fat athletic amenorrhea, and perimenopause. Hormonal contraception intentionally suppresses natural ovulatory signals until washout stabilization — calendar methods become meaningful only once cycles resume reliably.
